Professional Footballers Association chief executive Gordon Taylor is disappointed with Jose Mourinhos public criticism of Manchester United players he claims lack bravery. Mourinho issued a warning to his United squad after the 3-1 win over Swansea on Sunday that he only wants players who are willing to put their bodies on the line in his dressing room. Watch NOW TV Watch Sky Sports for only £6.99. No contract. Although not naming any player directly, Mourinho had earlier revealed England internationals Chris Smalling and Luke Shaw had made themselves unavailable for the Swansea game through injury, leading to interim national manager Gareth Southgate coming out in support of them. Southgate left both out of his squad for the World Cup Qualifier against Scotland and the friendly with Spain, saying there was obviously something wrong with them. And Taylor, speaking at the VSI Sporting Directors governance dinner, told Sky Sports News HQ: I was disappointed by that because, knowing the individuals, they are both highly thought of.Theyve got personal problems which I dont need to relay, but sometimes a manager needs to be a psychologist as well, and also to be a counsellor because you cant treat everybody in the team [the same], every manager must know that. Every player in a team is different. Mourinho said some of his squad members lacked bravery When you see what happened with Welsh football and Gary Speed, that brings it home to you that somebody can look on top of the world, with no problems, but [in reality] its quite different and thats why we have a 24-hour counselling service. We get some 200 calls a year to those lines because a player could be out of the team, he could be injured. Its a short-term career and were all human beings. Swansea 1-3 Manchester Utd I think thats what management these days has to be. Im not talking about being soft, Im talking about being understanding because to even get to the top in football you have got to succeed as not so many actually make it in the game. Like Steve Coppell said turtles come ashore to lay hundreds of eggs because they know very few get back. Luke Shaw and Chris Smalling both missed Uniteds clash with Swansea City on Sunday Those that do make it have a great resolve and resilience. Those days are gone when we had no substitutes and you were on the wing with a broken leg and still trying to carry on.Surely weve come beyond that and thats why its important if anyone has a head injury or possible concussion they have to come out of the game. Weve seen in other sports - rugby and cricket and just recently horse racing, the tragedy of a very serious injury to a jockey who is now paralysed from the waist down.Sport is good and it brings people together but there is another side of it which can be quite dangerous and thats why the people running the game have to be careful with health and safety, and psychological understanding. Shaw swept in a rebound of Sharps shot from the blue line with a highlight-reel effort. Shaw was knocked to the ice by Dallas defenceman Trevor Daley in the crease, but backhanded in the loose puck as he fell to his knees and while facing away from the net. Versteeg was credited with a goal at 4:12 of the second that made it 2-0. After Dallas Antoine Roussel failed to clear the puck, Versteeg slid a pass toward Hossa who was cruising in down the slot. Rousell reached with his stick to break up the pass, but deflected the pucks past Lehtonen. Garbutt didnt miss on his second breakaway of the game, and cut it to 2-1 midway through the second. He skated in behind the Blackhawks defence after Seguin banked a pass off the left boards from the Stars zone. Garbutt cut across the crease and slipped a backhander between Crawfords pads. Keith restored Chicagos two-goal lead at 3-1 with 5:45 left in the period on a fluttering screened shot from the left point. Garbutts second goal cut it to 3-2 with 5:40 left in the third. Following Nick Leddys turnover in the right corner of the Chicago zone, Garbutt carried the puck to the net. Crawford stopped his first shot, but Garbutt stuffed in the rebound from right side of the goal. "Its too bad we couldnt get the third (goal) there," Garbutt said. "Its doesnt matter if its pretty or not this time of year. "Well just take what we can get and need to start scoring more as a team." Hossa fired into an empty net with 33.3 seconds left to complete the scoring. Notes: Keith has six goals and 51 assists for his 57 points. ... The Blackhawks won 49 of 71 faceoffs on Tuesday.
